We can't be trusted...
Building our home and
family...
The first week in July, just after coming back from a liveaboard in Eygpt we became an auntie and uncle to the most beautiful "toe beans"! Safe to say Sam and I have little experience in holding babies so insisted on having an array of 'safety cushions' beneath us, as shown in the image above! I'll keep this short and sweet to respect the privacy his parents want for him, but he is the most beautiful little boy, with the BEST quiff known to man and is an amazing addition to our family.
Instead of producing a child, Sam and I produced a very un-thought out, unplanned, spontaneous idea of having an extension built! Rightmove, it's your fault. After seeing a house on the app (whilst performing a pointless scrolling exercise), we came across a beautiful home which we subsequently booked a viewing on... only later to be brought crashing down to earth by our mortgage adviser that this house was potentially around £100,000 out of our budget (you've got to laugh). Did that stop us though, nope. In true 'Sam and Simpson' (my maiden name) style we swiftly found a builder, an architect and some money and began working on our own property. This build involved extending on the kitchen and converting our garage into a home office for Sam. We also thought it would be a great idea amongst the chaos, that was quickly becoming our lives, to renovate the lounge ourselves by re-decorating, adding panelling and having a fireplace constructed.
Now when people warn you about the amount of dust that's around, they mean it. I will never underestimate how much mess is involved in builds, lets' put it this way, there was even dust on the food INSIDE the fridge.
I'd like to say that I assisted with the washing up in the bath but I would be lying. That was all Sam, top bloke.
Safe to say life has not gotten any quieter or calmer, but at least its not boring... right?
To be continued...
